Mark Lanegan is right up there, incredible voice sounds he smokes Marlboro Reds all day:

Layne Staley is another huge talent that has sadly gone:

Chris Cornell, Robert Plant, Mike Patton...oh and Eazy E, still a real motherfuckin G!

Re: Rock Vocalist
I love Zep's riffs, but Plant's voice ranges from someone having a painful dump to finishing with a excruciating castration. Almost as bad a singer as Jagger. Zero soul.
They'd have been better giving Terry Reid the gig.

Re: Rock Vocalist
Honourable mention too for Hayley Williams of Paramore.

Bit of a youngsters/girls band but I took my kids to see them a few years back, and she was truly impressive live. A really strong front person too. This is amazing.Have to listen all the way through though...

Re: Rock Vocalist
It's got to be Robert Plant. Ronnie James Dio and David Coverdale also have great rock voices. Phil Lynott also deserves a mention. He may not have had the best voice but it was perfect for his music.

Huge range but zero soul IMHO, but he's very, very popular for sure. You won't find me knocking anyone for liking him, but just not my cup of tea.
